Infusion 2013 


Annual Management, Cultural and Sports festival 

Infusion is the annual management, cultural and sports festival of the Indian Institute of Management Rohtak. It is a two-day long event held towards the end of January. The first edition of Infusion happened in 2013, which witnessed a footfall of students from over 50 colleges across the country which has been increased to more than 200 in 2015.  Infusion started in 2013 by a bunch of enthusiastic IIMRians. It is very fast becoming one of the biggest b-school festivals of the country. Infusion is a student –run festival which caters primarily to the youth.

The team of Infusion consists of student volunteers who work to promote creativity and cultural fusion, the foundation of this festival, as symbolized by the ‘Infusion’ in its name.

In the first few months, this determination and dedication of the Infusion team resulted in record number of sponsors getting attracted to the vision of Infusion. In the process IIM Rohtak became the 1st b-school to organize such a big scale festival in its only 3rd year of inception. With over 50 events (online & offline), 500+ performers from top colleges around the nation, 250+ festival staff and volunteers and over 50,000 attendees (online and off-campus), Infusion’15 was a huge success.

Infusion is purely a student run non-profit organization set up in 2013 to take the IIM Rohtak’s culture forward. In fact, the name Infusion was itself inspired by the culture at IIM Rohtak.  At IIM R we celebrate each and every festival with lot of happiness and brotherhood. This fusion of different cultures inspired the founders to come up with a name that represents the love, harmony, energy, positivity and life of students at IIM Rohtak

Artist and Celebraties

Infusion in its first edition saw participation of numerous stalwarts in the entertainment arena. A number of celebrated names like Farooque Shaikh, Deepti Naval, Swara Bhaskar (known for supporting actress role in the movie Ranjhana ) and Siddhant Karnick , Movie Director Avinash Kumar Singh and Music Director Indraneel Hariharan  who came to Infusion’13 for promoting their upcoming projects i.e Listen Amaya movie. Mr. Shaikh, veteran actor known for his role in classics like Umrao Jaan and Chashme Buddoor, advised the IIM-R students that “You don’t always have to be right, you have to be happy”, which is also the message conveyed by ‘Listen Amaya’. Answering a question, he said that there was no real distinction between parallel and commercial cinema, and it was the discerning power of the audience that shaped cinema. Ms. Naval stressed on the importance of love in relationships and spoke of her role in the movie, which is a contemporary film portraying relationships and family dynamics.

Infusion’15 showed the chords and rhythm of its guest performers i.e. FARIDKOT. These stars kept people on their feet with their unique sound.

Infusion has attracted sponsorships from various corporations due to huge participation of students from all over India. Many prominent names like  The State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, Idea, LPS Bossard, Vikilinks, Showknight.com, Satyam Cineplexes, SafeExpress, Somany Ceramics, Giani, Brewberrys, Skytech Group, Markmyfest.com, Hotel Rivoli, eSparSha, Buzzintown, Lohchab Honda, Jain Print Zone, Twenty19.com, Freecharge.in, Bhargavas Music  etc , association with Infusion is a matter of prestige and is reflected in the range of sponsorships it attracted in its First edition.

Star events

The stand-up comedy act by Entertainment Engineers comprising Nitin Gupta a.k.a Rivaldo, an alumnus of IIT Bombay, Apurv Gupta and Deepak Gopalakrishnan kept the audience in splits of laughter with funny takes and one-liners on life and love. They were later felicitated by Mr. Alok Ray and Ms. Priyanka Dubey, representatives of State Bank of India – the title sponsor of Infusion’13, Infusion’14 and Infusion’15. The live performance by the Delhi based Shambhvi Band as well as the live gig on the final day by the popular Aagman Band, kept the audience captivated throughout.

Cultural and Sports events

The War of Bands event pit upcoming bands against each other in demonstrating their talents. The solo and group dance competitions featured traditional and contemporary dance forms and even folk dance forms of Haryana. Ms. Saheli, Institute of Management, Nirma University, Ahmedabad & Ms. Shweta and Varsha, Institute of Management Sciences and Research, MDU won the solo and two-to-tango dance competitions respectively. The fashion show ‘Haute Couture’ held as a part of the personality contest for the titles ‘Mr. & Ms.Infusion’ showcased latest fads in both traditional and modern attire. The inter-college sports events saw teams from FMS, SRCC, IMI and BITS-Pilani competing for prizes in various sports event like football, volleyball and basketball, Table Tennis etc.

Media and Publicity

Infusion became one of the most widely publicized and covered b-school festivals in India. It received extensive coverage by all sectors of media. In print media all the leading newspaper covered the festival, also extensive coverage was given by Coolage, twenty19.com etc, various News channel also covered the whole festival with highlight event being the Bollywood movie promotion.
