What is DPM?

DPM is the doctoral programme at IIM Rohtak. The overall vision of IIM Rohtak is to be a global leader in creation and dissemination of knowledge in the field of management. The DPM at IIM Rohtak aims at developing high quality management researchers and academicians for academic institutions, research organizations, government and society in India and abroad.

Which areas of specialization are offered in the Doctoral Programme in Management?
Economics & Public Policy, Finance & Accounting, Marketing & Strategic Management, Management Information Systems, Organizational Behaviour & Human Resource Management, Operations Management & Quantitative Techniques

For How many areas I can apply?
A candidate can apply to two areas at a time with payment of registration charges separately.

Can I change my area of research during my stay at IIM Rohtak?
A candidate is selected for the DPM by and to an area. Hence she/he will not be permitted to shift to any other area under any circumstances. 

Qualifying Examination:
A candidate fulfilling the basic eligibility criteria should have a valid test score (not older than five years from the closing date of application) in any of the following tests mentioned for the respective area:

*For Example, relevant subject areas are: Commerce, Computer Science and applications, Economics, Labour welfare and personnel management, Mass communication and journalism, Management, Political Science, Psychology, Public administration, Tourism Administration and Management.

  • Candidates possessing PGDM/MBA of IIMs with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 out of 10 or equivalent will be eligible for the interview process directly. Further, if they are selected, will be exempted from first year PGP courses.
  • Non-Resident Indians, persons of Indian origin and other foreign citizens should have a valid GMAT/GRE score of not older than five years from the closing date of application.
  • Candidates with 2 years of academic experience and master degree or candidates with M.Phil. or Candidates with Master Degree with thesis in the relevant disciplines may directly appear for Research Aptitude Test (RAT) to be conducted by IIM Rohtak for shortlisting.

Is there any relaxation for admissions to DPM at IIM Rohtak?
The following categories of candidates will be eligible for relaxation in admission criterion as indicated below:

  • Candidates possessing PGDM/MBA of IIMs with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 out of 10 or equivalent will be eligible for interview process directly. Further, if they are selected, will be exempted from first year PGP courses.
  • Non-Resident Indians, persons of Indian origin and other foreign citizens should have a valid GMAT/GRE score of not older than five years from the closing date of application.

How can I apply?
The online application form can be filled through following link on a payment of Rs 2928/- (for Indian Citizens) and $ 100 (for foreign citizens or NRIs) as registration charges. The printed application form along with all the documents to be submitted /sent through post to the institute after the online registration on or before March 30, 2024.

What is the admission process of DPM?
The number of candidates to be called for interview in each area will be decided by the respective area. The shortlisted candidates will be called for personal interview at IIM Rohtak or any other venue fixed by the Institute which will be mentioned in the call letter for interview. In the interviews, the candidates will be assessed for their intellectual capabilities, research aptitude and interest in the management discipline.

What are the important deadlines?

Last date for application submission: March 30, 2024.

Date of Interviews: April 15-16, 2024.

What kind of financial support is available for the DPM participants?

(a) Stipend of Rs. 34,000 per month in the first and second years

(b) Stipend of Rs 40,000 per month for the third and fourth years.

(c) In addition to this, a merit fellowship (subject to satisfactory performance) of Rs. 10,000 per month in the second year and Rs. 15,000 per month in the third and fourth years is offered to the deserving participants.

(d)All the participants will receive a contingency grant of Rs. 2,50,000/-   distributed across four years of the programme.

IIM Rohtak will not charge tuition fee and certain other related fees from the participants who receive the monthly stipend. They are expected to pay for their food expenses, electricity & water bill, admission offer acceptance fee, alumni association fee, and any other fee specified by the institute.

Does IIM Rohtak provide any support to attend or participate in conferences to its DPM participants?

The DPM participants will be provided potential financial support for attending national and international conferences as well as for academic exchange visits to partner institutions as per the institute norms.

Is a hostel facility available for the  DPM participants?

All DPM participants are expected to be available in the campus throughout the programme except during approved field visits, leave or vacation of participants. Hostel accommodation will be provided to all the DPM participants.

What is the average time to complete DPM?

The programme duration is of four years. In special cases where there are valid reasons for the delay, the term of a DPM participant can be extended for one more year with provision for payment of stipend and financial support at a reduced rate.

Does IIM Rohtak provide placement assistance to the DPM participants?

High performing DPM participants are likely to get opportunities to visit partner institutions in India or abroad as per Institute norms. But there is no direct placement assistance provided to DPM participants.

Is there any provision for Part-time DPM?

DPM at IIM Rohtak is a fully residential programme. 

 If I am in the final year of my basic eligibility qualification, Can I apply?

Those who are in the final year of their Master Programme are also eligible to apply. Such candidates, if selected, will be allowed to join the programme only provisionally if they submit a certificate from the Principal/Head of the Department/Registrar or Director of the university/institute that they have cleared first year and will be able to submit final year provisional mark sheet latest by Sep 30, 2024. Their admission will be confirmed only when they submit the mark sheets and a pass certificate of master’s degree/equivalent qualification referred to in the certificate issued by the Principal/Registrar of their college/institute. The deadline for submission of mark sheet and the pass certificate is December 31, 2024. Please note that those candidates who have applied on the basis of their master’s degree will have to meet the minimum 55% marks criteria and submit the final degree mark sheet/pass certificate. Non-fulfilment of these conditions will automatically result in cancellation of the provisional admission.
